Women's Indoor Track & Field: Lasers compete in Springfield College Massasoit Classic

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Sinclair Samuels of the Lasell University women's indoor track & field team finished seventh overall in the finals of the shot put with a mark of 9.56 meters at the Springfield College Massasoit Classic Saturday.

Samuels was the top performer of the four Lasers who competed in the shot put. Senior Elise Stanbury finished 11th with a distance of 8.72. Freshman Taylor Sprague and sophomore Caitlyn Geary finished 14th and 15th, respectively, with distances of 8.10 and 7.79.

Freshman Hannah Babek led the way in the finals of the 200-meter dash for Lasell, finishing in 14th with a time of 28.81. Senior Emily Hong tallied a time of 30.55 and fellow classmate Alahna Mild clocked a 31.12.

Babek was also the Lasers' top-performer in the preliminary round of the 60-meter dash, finishing 15th with a time of 8.67. Mild placed 20th with a time of 8.84, while sophomore Chante Gregory crossed the finish line in a time of 10:27.

Sophomore Kristina Powers recorded a 10th-place finish in the finals of the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:09.11, while registering a time of 12:00 during the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles.

The Lasers will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 28, and Saturday, Jan. 29, when they will compete in the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University.
