WSOC: Three second half goals the difference in win over Anna Maria

Paxton, Mass. – Three second half goals by the Lasell University Lasers women's soccer team lifted them over the Anna Maria College, 3-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match Saturday at Carposo Field.

The Lasers improve to 10-4 on the year and 10-2 in the GNAC. Anna Maria falls to 2-13-2 overall and 0-10-2 in the GNAC.

With 28:02 to go in the game, Lasell finally broke through when junior Bobbi O'Guin (Newton, Mass.) turned from thirty yards out and hooked a beautiful shot that just escaped the reach of the goalie senior Rachel Matloff (Grafton, Mass).

Lasell scored an insurance goal in the 67th minute, as freshman Alyssa DeOliveira (East Providence, R.I.) broke through and finished with an assist going to senior Serena Speight (Biddeford, Maine).

Finally, sophomore Charlie Arellano (West Covina, Calif.) took a corner kick and hooked it in herself, putting the Lasers up 3-0 for the final score.

Sophomore goalkeeper Riley Silvia (Raymond, Maine) recorded a shutout with two saves in her first career win for the Lasers.

The Lasers will be back in action on Wednesday, October 27, for the season finale when they play host to GNAC foe Regis College. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
