WSOC: Lasell falls on Senior Day to Johnson & Wales

Newton, Mass. – The Lasell University Lasers soccer team fell on senior day to the Johnson & Wales wildcats, 3-1, Saturday at Taylor Field.

Graduate student Narissa Libby (Gorham, Maine), graduate student Korynne Provenzano (Stratham, N.H.), graduate student Erin Petrocelli (Hannover, Mass.), senior Maddie Burke (Pelham, N.H.), senior Serena Speight (Biddeford, Maine), senior Rebecca Beringer (Waterville, Maine), senior Angela Sanzari (North Haven, Conn.) and junior Alex Lorenzo (Pawtucket, R.I.) were all honored before the game.

Johnson & Wales got on the board first in the 16th minute when junior Jordan Restivo (Utica, N.Y.) made a pass across the box finding senior Olivia Cairrao (Bristol, R.I.) who put it past the keeper.

The Wildcats added a second four minutes later when Restivo made a few moves and got around multiple defenders before slotting it in the far post netting.

Sophomore Angelina Carrion (Hackensack, N.J.) gave the Wildcats a three-goal advantage in the 59th minute when she got the ball following a bad touch by the Laser defense, her shot deflected off a Laser defender and past the keeper for the goal.

The Lasers clawed one back in the 84th minute following a short pass from freshman Priscilla Martinelli (Plymouth, Mass.) to junior Bobbi O'Guin (Newton, Mass.) who curled a shot from outside the box over the keeper and into the far corner.

After the result the Lasers fall to 8-4 overall and 8-2 in the GNAC while the Wildcats improve to 12-3-2 on the year and 10-0-1 in the GNAC.

Lasell will be back in action on Wednesday, October 20, when they travel to Simmons University for a GNAC match. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
