Amherst, Mass. (11/11/12) - A day after becoming the first team in Lasell College history to win a game in the NCAA tournament the women's soccer team saw their season end, falling 3-0 to Brandeis University in the second round of the NCAA tournament. The Lasers finish the year with a 15-5-1 record, while the Judges advance to third round play with a record of 15-4-2.

Bradeis got a first half goal from Sapir Edalati, and used second stanza tallies by Madeline Stein and Haley Schacter to seal the win. Francine Kofinas, three saves and Michelle Savuto, one save, combined on the shutout for the Judges, with Kofinas recording the victory. Ashley Parrelli made four saves in the match for Lasell before giving way to Leah Pappalardo in the 69th minute, with Pappalardo recording one save.

Each side generated an offensive attack in opening ten minutes but were unable to produce a goal with their efforts. The Judges opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Edalati was able to run onto a pass from Dara Spital and chip Parrelli who was trying to close the space. Jill Greaney nearly cleared the ball off the line for Lasell, but to no avail and Brandeis took a 1-0 lead.

Less than two minutes later the Lasers nearly equalized when Bridget Lynch cross found the head of her sister Kayla Lynch, whose header was snared by Kofinas to preserve the Brandeis lead.

Brandeis held a 9-6 edge in shots in the opening half, while Lasell was unable to capitalize on a 6-0 advantage on corner kicks.

Brandeis opened the second half by adding to their lead when a Sara Isaacson service found Madeline Stein on the back post who slotted home to build a 2-0 advantage in the 49th minute. The Judges added their third goal in the 60th minute when Schacter headed home a corner by Alyssa Fenenbock.

Lasell pushed forward over the final 30 minutes of the match generating some scoring chances but the back line of Brandeis was able to support Savuto in holding Lasell scoreless on the day.
