Bushey’s Early Goal Gives Lasell a 1-0 Win over Blue Jays

WEST HARTFORD, CT - Allyson Bushey's (Westminster, MA) goal in the fourth minute put Lasell College women's soccer on top in a 1-0 win over Saint Joseph College of Connecticut on Tuesday in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action.

With the win, the Lasers put an end to an 18-game home winning streak for the Blue Jays, dating back to 2008.  Lasell improved their overall record to 9-3-2 this season and their league record to 6-2-2, with two more regular season GNAC matches to play before the post-season tournament.

The teams were even in shot attempts, at nine a piece, but the Blue Jays held a six-to-three edge in shots on goal.  Lasell's goal keeper Elizabeth Stickley (Mashpee, MA) was superb in net, stifling all six Blue Jay attempts.

Bushey's goal was scored 3:21 into the contest, without an assist, marking her third mark of the season and second goal in conference play.

Lasell's next GNAC contest is slated for Saturday, October 23rd at 1:00 p.m. at Suffolk University.
