WLax: Lasers Drop Season Opener to Gordon

Wenham, MA - The Lasell Lasers fell in their season opener against the Gordon College Fighting Scots by a score of 12-3. The Lasers fall to 0-1 on the season, while Gordon is now 3-1.

The Lasers got out to a fast start, scoring just over a minute into the game. This came on an unassisted shot from Teresa Kessner, the Lasers returning leading scorer. Two minutes later, the Lasers would strike again, this time it was Kaitlin Bedell off of a free position shot, putting the Lasers up 2-0. Gordon would answer by scoring two goals later in the first quarter, tying things up as the game headed to the second quarter. Gordon would go on to score four goals in the second period, taking a 6-2 lead into halftime.

After the Fighing Scots opened the second half with a goal, the Lasers got one back, as Kessner scored her second of the game, with this one coming from a free position shot. Gordon would then score five goals in the fourth, winning the game 12-3.

Lasell goalie Joy Sayah was playing in her first career game, and was peppered with shots all game. She would make 17 saves in the game.
