Auburndale, FL - The Lasell Lasers conrtinued their Spring Break trip with a pair of wins over St. Scholastica and Nichols. They defeated Scholastica by a final score of 6-3, and Nichols in extra innings by a score of 9-8. The Lasers are now 3-1 on the season.

Game One vs St. Scholastica

The key to this game was timely hitting from the Lasers. Lasell had just four hits, but they came at the right moments. After the Saints got out to a 2-0 lead after three innings, the Lasers scored six in the fourth. After two of the first four batters walked, the Lasers started their two out rally. Another walk loaded the bases before Emily Mestas was hit by a pitch to score the Laser's first run. The next batter was Ally Kirck, and she plated two with a double. After Brianna Gendreau had an RBI single, Grace Stephenson cleared the bases with a two RBI triple, putting the Lasers up 6-2. The Saints would add one run in the fifth, but the Lasers held on to win 6-3.

Eryn Sheeley pitched a complete game for the Lasers, allowing just six hits and three earned runs over seven innings. She struck out seven and walked five.

Game Two vs Nichols

The Lasers were the team to get out to the early lead in this game, scoring four runs in the top of the first. After a pair of singles, and a HBP, Katie Hopkins singled up the middle to score the first run. Alyssa Bland walked next, forcing a runner home. Abigail Fortin then plated two runs with a single, to give the Lasers the 4-0 lead. The Lasers then extended their lead even further in the top half of the second on a Mackenzie Still home run. But the Bison responded in the bottom half of the inning, scoring six runs to take the lead. After a scoreless third, the teams went back to work at the plate. The Lasers scored one run on a ground out, and then two more on an Angelena Piers two run homer, giving Lasell the 8-6 lead. But the Bison responded in their next at bats with two runs to tie things up. After three more scoreless innings, the two teams went to extra innings. The Lasers scored one run on an error, and that was enough, as they would win 9-8.

The Lasers collected 10 hits in the game, with Mackenzie Still, Katie Hopkins, Angelena Piers, and Abigail Fortin each having two.  Fortin was the starting pitcher for the Lasers, and allowed six hits and six runs over two innings.
