MXC: Guzman leads Lasers at GNAC Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Joan Guzman (Nantucket, Mass.) was the top finisher for the Lasell University men's cross country team on Saturday at the annual Great Northeast Athletic Conference (CNAC) Championships, held at rainy Franklin Park in Boston.

Guzman crossed the finish line in 33rd place out of 63 runners, finishing the 8K course in 32 minutes, 44 seconds. He averaged 6:35 per mile through the rain and wind. Junior Zach Kirsch (Winsted, Conn.) was just three spots back in 36th place, finishing in 33:18, an average of 6:41 per mile. Guzman was also Lasell's selection to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

With just two runners, Lasell was one of three teams that did not post a team score. Colby-Sawyer College captured the team championship with a team score of 44, edging runner-up Norwich University (49). Saint Joseph's College of Maine was third (56), followed by Regis College (106), the University of Saint Joseph of Connecticut (134) and Dean College (138).

The Lasers have one more race this season, the NCAA Division 3 East Regional Championships on Saturday, November 13, also at Franklin Park in Boston.
