MXC: Guzman leads Lasers at Suffolk Invitational Gold Race

BOSTON, Mass. – Both runners on the Lasell University men's cross country team finished in the top half Saturday afternoon in the Gold Race of the Suffolk University Invitational, held at Franklin Park in Boston.

Senior Joan Guzman (Nantucket, Mass.) was the top finisher for the Lasers, placing 40th out of 87 runners in the 8K race. He covered the course in a time of 32 minutes, 59 seconds, an average of 6:39 per mile. Junior Zach Kirsch (Winsted, Conn.) was just three spots back in 43rd place, finishing in 33:46, an average of 6:48 per mile.

With just two runners, Lasell did not post a team score. Bowdoin College was the easy winner with a team score of 26 points, followed by Maine Maritime (83), Saint Joseph's of Maine (88), Norwich (88), Regis (120), Dean (139), Saint Joseph of Connecticut (168), and Lesley (238).

The Lasers are off next weekend before competing in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships on Saturday, October 30, also at Franklin Park in Boston.
