WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Junior Zach Kirsch (Winsted, Conn.) was the top finisher for the Lasell University men's cross country team Friday afternoon at the University of Saint Joseph Blue Jay Invitational.

Kirsch completed the 5K course in 20 minutes and five seconds, a 6:29 per mile pace, to finish in sixth place among 36 runners from four teams. Senior Joan Guzman (Nantucket, Mass.) was also a top 10 finisher for the Lasers, placing 10th in a time of 21:13 (6:51 pace). Both Kirsch and Guzman posted season-best times.

Host USJ captured the team title with a score of 23, besting runner-up Dean College (44) and third-place Mitchell College (60). With just two finishers, Lasell did not post a team score.

The Lasers will race again next Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Elms College Blazer Classic at Chicopee (Mass.) Memorial State Park, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
