Cross Country Places Fifth at Pop Crowell Invitational

WENHAM, Mass. (9/24/16) -- The Lasell College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Ryan Dalaba (North Granville, N.Y.) finished first for Lasell in the men's 8K, posting a time of 28:50. Dalaba has now led the Lasers three times this season, shaving 46 seconds off his personal record.

Sophomore James Phelps (Westbrook, Maine) finished second for Lasell, coming in at 29:11. Following close behind was classmate Kyle Vonick (Wethersfield, Conn.) at 30:10. 

Freshman Matthew Holden (Methuen, Mass.) and Mark Greenwald (Monmouth, Maine) crossed the line fourth and fifth among Lasell runners, finishing with respective times of 30:31 and 31:01. Junior Troy Gonsalves (Providence, R.I.) finished next, clocking in at 32:38. Freshmen Kevin Wallin (Billerica, Mass.) and Massimo Cugno (Medford, Mass.) finished the 8K race in 33:31 and 34:16, respectively.

The men finished in fifth place with a total score of 156 and a 29:56 average time.

Freshman Karli Manship (Pittsfield, Mass.) paced the Lasers for the first time in her collegiate career in the women's 5K. Manship posted a time of 22:22, shaving 1:20 off her personal record.

Sophomore Stephanie Seedorf (Massapequa, N.Y.) finished second for Lasell, coming in at 22:42. Freshman Megan Stella (Warren, Mass.) crushed her personal record by over four minutes as she was the third Laser to finish, at 23:10. Freshman Alexandra Clancy (Beverly, Mass.) finished her collegiate debut in 29:31, while junior Shannon Hart (Mashpee, Mass.) followed behind at 30:56.

Overall, the women finished eighth with a score of 212 and a 25:44 average time.

The men and women will be back in action on Friday, October 14 when they race in the Saints Invitational at Franklin Park beginning at 4:00 p.m.
