Men's Cross Country Tops GNAC Competition at Saints Invite

BOSTON, Mass. (10/17/15) – The Lasell College men's cross country team finished 9th overall with 232 total points in the 10th Annual Emmanuel College Saints Invitational at Franklin Park. Over 400 runners represented 24 colleges and universities, with 22 men's teams competing in the 8k event. Wentworth Institute of Technology won the men's race with the Leopards sealing up the three positions among the top seven racers, as the team combined for 72 total points. The Lasers topped conference foes Emmanuel College, Rivier University, Suffolk University, and Mount Ida College for a team time of 2:25:09.40.

Sophomore Nick Garifalos (Spotswood, N.J.) paced the Lasers with PR, and finished 30th overall at 28:19.41. Senior Jeremy Shriber (Central Valley, N.Y.) crossed next for the Lasers, placing 36th with a total time of 28:29.05 – also a season-best.

Freshman James Phelps (Westbrook, Maine) used a 28:42.88 finished to place 41st, while freshman Ryan Dalaba (North Granville, N.Y.) trickled in at 29:36.43.

The Lasers will return to the course at Saint Joseph's (Maine) on Saturday, October 31 as the Monks host the GNAC Cross Country Championships with race time set for 2:00 p.m.
