Men's Cross Country Opens at St. Joseph's of Maine

STANDISH, Maine (8/30/14) – The Lasell College men's cross country team opened the 2014 season at the St. Joseph's College (Maine) Early Bird meet, placing third behind the University of New England and the host Monks.

Freshmen Nicholas Garifolas placed tenth in his college debut, posting a 22:56 in the 6K course to pace the Lasers. Senior Kyle Northrop and freshmen Troy Gonsalves finished 12th and 13th covering the course in 23:37 and 23:39 respectively. Junior transfer Jeremy Shriber was 19th overall and fourth for the Lasers with a time of 24:13 followed by Tyler Cohen in 26:53, Conor Devlin in 27:01, Andrew Panther in 29:09 and Tyler Schwabe in 32:19.

The University of New England finished with 16 points, St. Joseph's with 50 and Lasell with 68 in the meet. Lasell will be back in action on Saturday September 6th when they travel to Fitchburg State at 11:00 p.m.
