The Lasell College cross country team closed out the 2008 season at the NCAA Division III New England Qualifier, Saturday, November 15th, hosted by Williams College. Forty Nine teams and 660 athletes competed in the qualifier, including some of the top nationally ranked teams in all of Division III.
The Lasell College mens and womens cross country team competed in the 2008 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday, hosted by Saint Josephs College (Me.). The Lasers womens team took fifth place overall and the mens team finished in fourth overall. Saint Josephs (Me.) won the womens race for the second consecutive year and Johnson & Wales University earned the mens Championship title.
Zachary Lambert, a junior from Marlborough, Mass., set a new overall personal record at the Saints Invitational at Franklin Park, on Friday. Lambert finished the 8K race in 25th place with a time of 29:13 to help the Lasers to a fourth place finish.
Kayla McKenna (Warwick, RI) and Chris Johnson (Gloucester, MA) led the pack for the Lasers again at the St. Josephs College of Maine Monks Invitational.
The Lasers traveled to Gordon College this weekend to compete in the 38th Annual Pop Crowell Invitational. The men ran an 8K course on the Gordon Campus, finishing in 17th in the 24 team competition.
The Lasell College womens cross country team recorded 54 points for a second place finish at the Rivier College Invitational on Friday, with two athletes finishing in the top ten. The Lasers mens team also had two finishers in the top ten in their race, and finished with 71 points in fourth place.
Five Lasell athletes were recognized by the GNAC as weekly honor roll recipients this week. Two womens volleyball players, two womens cross country runners, and one mens soccer player were noted for their overall play during the week ending on September 15th.
Northampton, MA: The Springfield women placed four runners in the top ten while the Bears of Coast Guard swept the first five places to win the women's and men's races today on Smith's 5k course.
Amanda Driscoll (Roslindale, MA) has been named Rookie of the Week in the GNAC this week after her first collegiate race in the Roger Williams Invitational.
BRISTOL, R.I. The Roger Williams University Mens and Womens Cross Country team won its opening meet against Lasell College Saturday afternoon. Though both teams had to deal with intermittent drizzling and humid conditions, the three-mile course was still suitable for running for the dual meet.
