MVB: Semi-Final Loss to the Raiders Ends the 2024 Season

Newton, MA - The Lasers hosted Rivier in the GNAC semi-final game after recieving a first round bye. The Raiders bested the Lasers with a final score of 3-1. 

The Rivier offense came out and gained an early lead over the Lasers in the first set. Lasell came within a point of the Raiders, but were scoring two points to every single point for Lasell. Rivier took the first set 25-19. 

Rivier took the first three points of the second set and never looked back. Rivier continued to rack up the points, winning 25-19. 

The third set started with both teams neck and neck. Rivier pulled ahead 16-12 when a four point run for the Lasers evened things out. Rivier tacked a few more points onto the board but the Lasers took set three 25-21. 

The fourth and final set went similarly to the first two, with Rivier pulling head early and forcing the Lasers to come from behind. A four point run followed by another three unasnswered kills evened the score out and gave Lasell a one point lead. Rivier answered with four points of their own, retaking the lead 18-16. The Lasers put four more points on the board but it wasn't enough, they lost the final set 25-20. 

Theo Zaharewicz lead the Lasers with 15 kills on the match. Brenden Joyce followed closely behind with 10 kills of his own. Jesus Garcia collected 37 assists on the match. 

 

The Lasers finished their 2024 season with an overall record of 17-12 and a conference record of 12-2.
