NEWTON, Mass. - Junior Brenden Joyce (Randolph, Mass.) and freshman Jordan Shinaut (Peoria, Ariz.) recorded a combined 26 kills for the Lasell University men's volleyball team during a 3-0 sweep against Eastern Nazarene Tuesday evening in the Athletic Center.

"We played an extremely clean game of volleyball today," said Lasell University Men's Volleyball Head Coach Jeff Vautrin. "The duo of Brenden Joyce and Jordan Shinaut were virtually unstoppable on offense. Our serve receive was very solid, which allowed Jesus Garcia and Zak Burkett (Kahului, Hawaii) to run the offense with ease. Dexter Thomas earned his way into the starting rotation and played great at the net and from the service line. Hopefully, we will keep up this type opf play to finish off the season and build momentum leading into conference playoffs."

Leading the way for the Lions (12-12, 2-3 New England Collegiate Conference) were Alejandro Garcia Fernandez (18 kills), Aaron Huang (13 assists) and Christopher Gil (10 assists).

A kill by junior Tucker Merritt ended a 3-0 run and gave the Lasers a 19-13 advantage during the first set. Back-to-back service points by Shinaut clinched a 25-19 first-set triumph for the hosts.

Thomas and freshman Theo Zaharewicz tallied back-to-back kills, giving the unit a 17-13 lead in the second set. Shinaut tallied two kills in a row, powering the Lasers to a 25-18 second-set victory.

Lasell compiled a .714 hitting percentage as a team in the third set. An ace by Burkett ended the match and sealed a 25-13 third-set win.
