Outdoor Track & Field: Brady Mackechnie named GNAC Men's Rookie of the Year

WINTHROP, Mass. - After recording a school record in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.09 during the Division III New England Championships on May 6, freshman Brady Mackechnie of the Lasell University men's outdoor track & field team was named GNAC Rookie of the Year Friday.

Max Corson and Madison Nerich represented the Lasers on the Men's and Women's All-Sportsmanship teams, respectively, while Lasell also earned the Men's Team Sportsmanship award. Nerich currently holds the school record in the outdoor hammer throw with a mark of 26.53 meters, as she accomplished the feat on April 23 at the Pre-Conference meet. Corson set a personal record and outdoor season-best time in the 100 (11.77) and 200 meters (24.74), respectively, at the GNAC Championship on May 1.

During the conference meet, Mackechnie tallied a then-school record in the 110 hurdles (16.14) and a current program record in the javelin (44.16), as he finished second and fourth, respectively, in the events. The East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, native also holds an outdoor school record in the 400 hurdles (59.86) and an indoor program record in the 60 high hurdles (9.51).

Mackechnie and Corson hold school records, along with their team, in the outdoor 4x100 relay (44.72) and 1,600 sprint medley relay (4:00.86).
