Track & Field: Lasers earn three weekly GNAC awards

WINTHROP, Mass. - Ben Abely (Track Athlete of the Week), Elise Stanbury (Field Athlete of the Week) and Hanna Babek (Rookie of the Week) of the Lasell University outdoor track & field teams earned weekly Great Northeast Athletic Conference honors Monday afternoon after tremendous performances at the Corsair Classic Saturday.

During the Corsair Classic at UMass Dartmouth, Abely finished 13th overall and tallied a career-best time of 11.55 during the finals of the 100-meter dash. He also finished 11th in the finals of the 200 meters (23.54). The Stonington, Connecticut, native placed fourth with his team and set a school record in the finals of the 4x100-meter relay (45.74).

Stanbury compiled a personal record of 29.26 meters and recorded a sixth-place finish during the finals of the discus throw. She also competed in the finals of the shot put, compiling a mark of 8.55 and placing 17th overall. Babek competed in the finals of the 200 meters (29.01) and the finals of the 100 meters (13.96), while placing fifth with her team in the finals of the 4x100-meter relay (55.14).
