MSOC: Lasell drops Senior Day game against Johnson & Wales

Newton, Mass. –  The Lasell University Lasers men's soccer team fell on senior day to the Johnson & Wales Wildcats, 2-0, Saturday at Taylor Field.

Senior Zack Laware (Wilbraham, Mass.), senior Jake Ouellette (East Granby, Conn.), junior Youssef Danguir (Revere, Mass.), senior Nathan Smith (Grand Isle, Vt.), senior Dylan Thambirasa (Oslo, Norway), senior Kevin Pitt (Bayshore, N.Y.), senior Edson DaSilva (Hingham, Mass.) and senior Alexander Tavitian (Woburn, Mass.) were all honored before the game.

Johnson & Wales got the first goal of the game in the 25th minute when senior JP Rioux (Stony Point, N.Y.) placed the penalty shot right down the middle.

Rioux added a second in the 62nd minute when he ran under a lofted pass by freshman Danny Peixinho (Warwick, R.I.) and got his foot to a bouncing ball at eye level to chip it over Laware.

The Wildcats got the better of the Lasers in both shots, 20-3, and corner kicks 8-0.

The Lasers fall to 2-10-1 on the year and 1-6-1 in the GNAC while Johnson & Wales improves to 9-3 overall and 6-2 in the GNAC.

The Lasers will be back in action on Wednesday, October 20, when they travel to Colby Sawyer for a GNAC battle. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
