MSOC: Lasers suffer defeat at the hands of Saint Joseph's of Maine

Biddeford, Maine – The Lasell University men's soccer team fell to the Saint Joseph's College Monks, 3-0, Tuesday at the SJC Athletic Complex.

The Lasers fall drop to 2-9 overall and 1-6 in the GNAC. The Monks improve to 7-1-2 overall and 6-0 in the GNAC.

Senior Austin Ward (North Andover, Mass.) got the Monks on the board when he took the ball away from the Lasell goalie, dribbled around a defender and put it into the open net.

The Monks doubled their tally in the 60th minute when sophomore Aiden Hickey (Yarmouth, Maine) threw the ball in from the right side over the heads of four players, where it then bounced before it was headed in by senior Kuma Onyejose (East Greenwich, R.I.).

Saint Joseph's scored their final goal in the 77th minute when junior Mardoche Kikobo (Kinshasa, DRC) crossed a ball from the left side finding the head of graduate student Quinn Hewitt (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) who redirected it to the far post for graduate student Colin Grant (Harvard, Mass.) to tap it home.

The Monks had the edge in both shots, 27-3, and corner kicks,17-1, in the victory.

The Lasers will be back in action on Saturday, October 9, when they take on Regis College in a GNAC matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
