Newton, Mass. (12/05/12) - The Lasell College men's soccer team added another program first to their 2012 campaign, they had a pair of players selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-New England team. Junior Mike Skelton (No. Conway, N.H.) was selected to All-New England First Team, while classmate Nery Guerra (Guatemala City, Guatemala) was named to the All-New England Second Team.
In the program's history, only Graig Murphy has ever been honored by the NSCAA, when he was selected to the All-New England Third team in his final year in uniform.
Skelton, the 2012 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Year, scored 14 goals and had three assists in his junior year. Guerra, who was also a GNAC First Team All-GNAC selection as a midfielder, scored three goals and added five assists. Skelton and Guerra comprised two-thirds of the team's captaincy, joining Evan Gaccione (Westerly, R.I.) in providing excellent leadership that helped the team finish the season 15-4-1, and earn an appearance in the New England ECAC Championships.
