Newton, MA – The Lasell Lasers Men's Lacrosse team defeated the SUNY New Paltz Hawks on Saturday in a thrilling 13-11game that saw the Lasers move to 1-2 on the season while the Hawks drop to 0-3.

The Hawks scored the first two goals of the game to go up early, but a Landon Reyes goal would cut the lead in half. After another SUNY goal, Reyes would score again. The two teams would each score again in the quarter, with Patrick Mulhern tallying the Lasell goal. With the score 4-3 Hawks after one, the Lasers scored the first two goals of the second quarter, with Adam Haytayan and Finnegan McCormack each scoring off assists by Anthony DeRosa. The Hawks would then score the next two goals before a Matthew Carbone goal with less than a minute left in the half to tie things up at six at the half. Carbone's goal came immediately after he won the faceoff, and came just seven seconds after SUNY's last goal.

The Hawks opened the third quarter with a goal, but the Lasers took their first lead of the game with two straight immediately after. Ryan Stone scored the first, while Patrick Mulhern scored the second. But SUNY New Paltz would score three straight to grab a two goal lead at 10-8. Another goal from Stone, assisted by DeRosa, made it 10-9 at the end of three. Stone would then score twice in the fourth, with a Sam Guilmette goal sandwiched in between. It was Guilmette's first career goal. The trio of goals gave the Lasers a 12-10 lead. A Hawks goal with seven minutes remaining cut the lead to just one, but a Mulhern goal with 12 seconds left sealed the game for the Lasers.

Stone and Mulhern led the way with four and three goals each. Mulhern added two assists, trailing just DeRosa's four. Casey Hart led the team with two caused turnovers, while Carbone led the team with nine ground balls. A majority of those came off the 16 faceoffs he won. Michael Catalano had 10 saves in the win. With his two goals, Reyes eclipsed the 100 career point mark.
