MLax: Lasers Drop Opening Game of the Season

Newton, MA - The Lasell Men's Lacrosse team fell in their season opener against Vassar on Thursday by a final score of 17-8.

The Brewers got out to a hot start, scoring six unanswered goals in the first quarter. The Lasers would get on the board early in the second with a Landon Reyes goal, the 37th of his career, putting him 40th all time. After a pair of Vassar goals, Reyes found the back of the net again. He would later assist on a Finnegan McCormack goal right before halftime, which made it 9-3. Will McCarthy opened up the scoring in the second half to make it 9-4, but Vassar would score the final four goals of the third. In a goal filled fourth quarter, the Lasers got scores from Ryan Stone and Anthony DeRosa, as well as two from Adam Haytayan.

Francis Pino led the team with two caused turnovers and five ground balls. Matthew Carbone also had five ground balls and won three faceoffs. Michael Catalano made 20 saves in net for the Lasers.

Up next - The Lasers will head to Roger Williams on Saturday for a 1pm game.
