MLax: Lasers Post Historic Offensive Numbers in Win

Newton, MA - The Lasell Lasers Men's Lacrosse team cruised to an easy victory on Saturday, defeating the Anna Maria AMCATS 24-5 on Saturday. The Lasers are now 5-4 on the season, and 3-0 in GNAC play. The AMCATS are now 1-8 and 0-3. The win was the Lasers fourth consecutive victory.

The Lasers began their onslaught immediately, scoring just 45 second into the game on a Nate Taggart goal. A minute later David Burke made it 2-0. On the ensuing faceoff, Matthew Carbone won, and passed to Jack Tauson, who found the back of the net. Very soon after the next faceoff, Adam Haytayan rifled one home to make it 4-0 just two minutes into the game. The Lasers kept scoring, as Patrick Mulhern, Landon Reyes, Nate Taggart, and Jack Tauson each scored over the next four minutes to make it 8-0 midway through the first quarter. The Lasers weren't done though, as they kept attacking. Tauson, Haytayan, Francis Pino and Casey Hart each scored before the AMCATS finally got on the board with a minute remaining in the first quarter. The Lasers took a 12-1 lead into the second, and continued to add on. Burke, Tauson, and Reyes each scored in the second, giving the Lasers a 15-3 lead at halftime.

The second half was no different, as the Lasers outscored the AMCATS 5-0 in the third quarter, getting goals from Will McCarthy, Ryan Stone, Austin Wenzel, and Brendan Dean. Stone would score twice in the period. The fourth saw the Lasers continue to find the back of the net, as Dean, Taggart, Kieran Oliver and Anthony DeRosa rounded out the scoring for Lasell, as they took a 24-5 victory.

The Lasers had 14 different goal scorers, as everyone on the roster got playing time. Matthew Carbone starred in the game, collecting 10 groundballs, while going an incredible 19-21 on faceoffs. He also added three assists. Both Hunter Parker and Tyler Rose recorded five caused turnovers on the day, while Ethan Dallas was right behind them with four. A total of 15 Lasers recorded a point, with nine different Lasers recording at least three points. Goalie Michael Catalano got the start and the win, stopping four shots in the first quarter before being relieved by Liam Hill. Hill made one save in three quarters.

The Lasers put up historic numbers as a team. Their 24 goals was the fourth most in school history, while their 62 shots were tied for the sixth most. The 24 goals combined with 16 assists gave the Lasers 40 points, tied for the fourth most in school history.
