Men's Lacrosse: Lasers earn 24-3 senior day victory over Regis

NEWTON, Mass. - The Lasell University men's lacrosse team utilized a balanced scoring attack Saturday afternoon, as 12 Lasers tallied at least one point in a 24-3 GNAC triumph over Regis during senior day at Grellier Field.

"It was a great win," said Lasell University Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Dieter Treusdell. "The team played hard for our seniors. It was a great day."

Prior to the game, the Lasers (10-5, 9-0 GNAC), who have won 10 consecutive games, hosted a senior day ceremony for Tyler Rose (4 ground balls, 4 caused turnovers), Brendan Johnson (1 goal, 2 assists), Bash Cunningham (5 goals), David Burke (4 goals, 2 assists), Matt Barron (2 ground balls), Jordan Hines (2 goals), Alex Beauchemin (11th win of season in goal), James Anderson (2 goals, 2 assists), Brian Consiglio (1 ground ball, 1 caused turnover) and Steven Phelps (2 assists, 20 of 25 on faceoffs).

"Today showcased what we can do when we play as a team," said Hines. "It was senior day, but top to bottom, we showed the depth this team has. It was a truly unforgettable day that I will never forget."

During the victory, Will McCarthy (3 goals) scored his first collegiate goal, while Phelps (2 assists) and William Wallace (1 assist) each tallied their first collegiate assists. McCarthy and Wallace also recorded their first collegiate points. In net, Beauchemin logged the first 38:06, and then freshman Liam Hill secured the win by playing the final 21:54.

Anthony Marsella (2 goals) and Ryan Richardson (1 goal, 1 assist) led the way for the Pride (2-13, 0-10 GNAC).

Regis took a 2-1 lead on a goal by Marsella with 7:33 left in the first quarter and from that point forward it was all Lasers. Lasell scored 20 straight goals and held the Pride off the scoreboard for a period 41:21, spanning from the first to the fourth quarter. Lasell led, 6-2, at the end of one, and then put in eight goals in the second and another six in the third, taking a 20-2 advantage into the final 15 minutes.

Landon Reyes finished with five goals, while Nate Taggart (1 goal, 1 assist), Anthony DeRosa (1 assist) and Ryan Stone (1 goal) also played well. Lasell led the shots' category, 60-16, and ground balls, 52-15. Lasell was dominant on faceoffs, winning 24 of 30 for a .800 win percentage.

The Lasers will compete against GNAC-rival Norwich Wednesday at 4 p.m. on Grellier Field.
