PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior midfielder David Burke of the Lasell University men's lacrosse team scored a career-high four goals and tied a personal-best four points Wednesday evening, as the Lasers tallied six of the final seven goals during a 9-4 GNAC triumph at Johnson & Wales.

"It was a great team win," said Lasell University Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Dieter Treusdell. "We were a little slow to get going, but played our best lacrosse in the fourth quarter."

The Lasers (9-5, 8-0 GNAC) have won nine straight games, with eight taking place in the conference. Landon Reyes finished with his second consecutive three-point game, tallying two goals and one assist. James Anderson scored twice and Nate Taggart contributed with two assists, while senior goalie Alex Beauchemin improved to 9-4 on the season, stopping 14-of-18 shots for a .778 save percentage.

Goalies Trent Madigan and Chris April recorded a combined 18 saves for the Wildcats (8-6, 5-3 GNAC). Mike Catuosco went 11 of 17 on faceoffs for Johnson & Wales.

The Lasers scored the first three goals of the game, with two coming from Burke, as the unit took a 3-0 lead with 3:18 left in the first quarter on an unassisted tally by Burke. The visitors held the hosts off the scoreboard for the first 14:21 of the game.

Neither team scored during the second quarter. The Wildcats evened the score at 3-3 on a goal by Andrew Vasile with 8:30 remaining in the third. Lasell took a 5-4 advantage into the fourth on third-quarter goals by Burke and Reyes.

Lasell dominated the final 15 minutes, refusing to allow any goals by the Wildcats and scoring four of its own goals. Taggart posted both of his assists in the frame, while Burke, Anderson, Jordan Hines and Reyes found the back of the net during the quarter.

Burke and Anderson combined for 16 shots, with 12 on goal. Senior Steven Phelps led the Lasers with four ground balls. Catuosco compiled game-highs of eight ground balls and three caused turnovers for Johnson & Wales.

Lasell led the shots' category, 39-33, and went 21 for 23 on clears. The Wildcats led the ground-balls statistic, 22-17.

The Lasers will host GNAC-rival Regis Saturday at 1 p.m. on Grellier Field. Prior to the game, Lasell will honor its outstanding 10-person senior class.
