BOSTON - Freshman Ryan Stone and senior David Burke each finished with three goals and one assist for the Lasell University men's lacrosse team during a 16-8 setback at UMass Boston Tuesday.

Stone, who has recorded four points in back-to-back games, leads the Lasers (0-4) in goals (7) and points (10) this season, while sitting in a tie for first in assists (3) on the team. The hat tricks by Stone and Burke were the first of their collegiate careers.

Freshman Adam Haytayan compiled two goals and sophomore Anthony DeRosa contributed with an assist for Lasell. Freshman goalie Liam Hill made his collegiate debut, making a game-high 13 saves.

"We got better tonight," said Lasell University Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Dieter Treusdell. "Some young guys really stepped up and showed what they can do. Our team showed great composure and class. I am proud of the effort, even though it was not the result we wanted. We are excited to get straight back to it and prepare for Emerson on Thursday."

Gavin Admirand posted game-highs of five goals and three assists for the Beacons (3-0). Michael Claflin also played well for the hosts, finishing with four goals and two assists. Darragh Fahey compiled four points, featuring two goals and two assists. Goalie Trevor Koppy earned the win for UMass Boston, turning away 11-of-17 shots in 55:02 of action.

UMass Boston raced out to an 8-1 lead with 11:27 left in the second quarter, as Admirand scored three goals during that surge. The Lasers scored the final three goals of the half, including two by Haytayan and one by Stone, trimming the deficit down to 8-4 at intermission.

The Beacons outscored the Lasers, 4-0, in the third quarter. Each team found the back of the net four times in the final 15 minutes. During the fourth, Stone and Burke each netted two goals for the visitors.

Lasell went 3 of 8 on man-up situations and was successful on 25-of-28 clears. Burke recorded a game-high 11 shots and his seven shots on goal were tied for the most in the game. The Beacons held a 52-31 advantage in shots, while Jack Dobrzynski corralled a game-leading 10 ground balls for the hosts.

The Lasers will compete against Emerson Thursday, starting at 4 p.m. on Grellier Field.
