Lasell Men’s Lacrosse too strong for Albertus Magnus

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – It was another balanced scoring attack for Lasell College Wednesday evening as the Lasers posted a 17-2 victory over Albertus Magnus College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's lacrosse game at Celentano Field.

The Lasers earned a dominant victory, putting up leads of 6-0 after one quarter and 12-1 at halftime. Lasell put numerous reserves in the game in the second half and outscored the Falcons 5-1 over the final 30 minutes to record the victory. Lasell improves to 5-6 overall and 5-1 in the GNAC, while Albertus Magnus drops to 2-10 overall and 0-7 in the conference.

Senior Austin Tomasetti (Elmsford, N.Y.) led the Lasers with four goals, all in the first half, while senior Alex McCormack-Kuhman (Wells, Maine) added two goals and two assists and junior Ryan Madden (Hingham, Mass.) two goals and one assist. Other contributors to the Lasers' high-scoring attack included junior James Torosian (Lynn, Mass.) with three goals, sophomore Cam Bent (Cranston, R.I.) and freshman Josif Giogas (Burlington, Mass.) with two goals each, and freshman Colby Buccheri (Rowley, Mass.) with a goal and two assists.

Junior David Sheehan (Tewksbury, Mass.) paced the Lasers defensively, matching the team record with five caused turnovers for the fourth time this season and grabbing six ground balls. Freshman defender Ethan Bain (Southbury, Conn.) picked up a team-high nine ground balls.

The Lasers used all three goalies in the game. Sophomore Ryan Janovic (East Lyme, Conn.) made four saves on five shots in the first half, junior Andrew Modugno (Medford, Mass.) stopped all four shots he faced in 20 minutes of work after the break, and freshman Michael Davison (Burlington, Mass.) made two saves in the final 10 minutes.

Lasell gets back into action Saturday with a key GNAC contest Saturday, April 21, at Rivier University, with opening face-off set for 4:00 p.m.
