Newton, MA - The Lasell Men's Basketball team overcame a slow start on Thursday to defeat the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer by a final score of 90-80. With the win the Lasers are now 15-6 on the season and 9-1 in GNAC play. The Chargers are now 8-12 and 4-5. With the win, the Lasers have now won eight games in a row. This marks the longest winning streak in program history since the 2016-17 season when they won nine in a row. It is tied for the fourth longest winning streak in program history.

The Lasers got out to a slow start, trailing 8-0 just 90 seconds in. It would eventually be a 10 point deficit, but the Lasers battled back, and used a 9-0 run to take a three point lead midway through the half. The teams would go back and forth for a little bit before the Lasers opened it up a bit, going up by eight at 44-36. But the Chargers ended the half on a 7-0 run, and the Lasers led 44-43 at the break.

The teams would continue to go toe to toe for the first nine minutes of the second half, but back to back three pointers by Che Hanks and Conan McCusker gave Lasell and eight point lead. The lead would stick around the 8-11 point margin for a majority of the rest of the game, with the Chargers briefly getting within six. But the Lasers held on to win 90-80.

The Lasers were led by Marcus Lewis, who despite having an off night from three point range (2-7), poured in 35 points on 15-23 shooting. He also led the team in both rebounds with seven and steals with four. Also snatching four steals was Andy Madesko. Madesko filled up the stat sheet, scoring 13 points, dishing out seven assists, and grabbing five rebounds. The other double-digit scorers for the Lasers were Che Hanks with 18 and Conan McCusker with 11. Hanks also had six assists.
