Newton, MA – The Lasell Men's Basketball team defeated the Husson Eagles on Tuesday by a final score of 82-72. The win moves the Lasers to 6-3 on the season, while giving the previously undefeated Eagles their first loss of the season and dropping them to 7-1.

The Lasers raced out to a quick 7-0 lead just two minutes into the game. The Eagles would slowly chip away, and eventually took a 15-14 lead with 13 minutes remaining in the half. The two teams then combined for five lead changes over the following three minutes. It remained close the rest of the half, but the Eagles used a 9-0 run to take a three point lead with two minutes left in the half. But  a Jonah Cattaneo three pointer stopped the bleeding, and tied things up. Cattaneo would hit another on the next possession, and Che Hanks ended the half with a jumper, giving the Lasers a 39-34 lead at the break, having ended the half on an 8-0 run.

The Eagles made the first move of the second half, even taking multiple two point leads. But they were never able to push it further, as the Lasers had an answer each time. The two teams stood tied at 69 with four minutes remaining. It was then that the Lasers used an 11-0 run to take control of the game before taking it 82-72.

The Lasers were led by two unsung heroes, as Gabe Qua and Che Hanks each had career highs in points with 23 and 20 respectively. Both were quite efficient, with Qua shooting 10-12 and Hanks 8-12. Both were 2-2 from three point range. Qua was also in control of the glass, grabbing a game high 12. Hanks led the team with seven assists, one more than Andy Madesko's six.

Up Next - The Lasers will play at Brandeis on Thursday at 7:30pm.
