Men's Basketball: Nunez drafted with the 16th pick by Indios de San Francisco

NEWTON, Mass. - Senior guard Kevin Nunez of the Lasell University men's basketball program was selected as the 16th pick by Indios de San Francisco, a professional team in the Dominican Republic, during the 2022 Liga Nacional de Baloncesto draft.

After averaging 16.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game during the 2021-22 season, Nunez earned GNAC All-Conference second team recognition.

Nunez shot 47.4% from the field (167 for 352) on the season. He was named GNAC Player of the Week on Dec. 6 and scored his 1,000th collegiate point in an 80-68 victory at Wheaton on Nov. 30.

During an 86-71 triumph at Rivier on Dec. 4, the Dorchester, Massachusetts, native finished with career-highs of 34 points and 15 made field goals, shooting 15 of 25 from the field. The 15 made field goals are tied for the fourth most in a single game in program history. He also pulled down a season-high 14 boards.

At Babson on Nov. 10, the 6-foot-1 guard dropped 28 points, shooting 12 of 16 from the field. Nunez compiled 24 points and 11 rebounds during a 102-83 triumph against eventual GNAC Tournament-runner-up Albertus Magnus on Jan. 12 in the Athletic Center.

Nunez recorded three double-doubles during the 2021-22 season. He scored in double figures 19 times, including finishing with 22 or more on seven occasions.
