WINTHROP, Mass. - After averaging a double-double with 12.6 points and 12.6 rebounds per game during the 2021-22 season, graduate student Kevin Vanderhorst of the Lasell University men's basketball team was named to the GNAC All-Conference third team Monday.
Vanderhorst's 12.6 rebounds per game were the second-best mark in a single season in program history and was the second-highest average in the GNAC this season. The Lawrence, Massachusetts, native averaged 11.2 career rebounds per game as a Laser, putting him first in the category in the program's record book.
The 6-foot-4 forward set a program record with 27 rebounds during a 78-48 triumph over Colby-Sawyer on Jan. 22 in the Athletic Center. Two days later, he pulled down 26 boards in a 112-55 victory over visiting Elms. Vanderhorst reached 1,000 collegiate points in an 82-74 win at Elms on Feb. 3.
Vanderhorst finished with 15 double-doubles in 2021-22. He scored a season-high 25 points, shooting 11 of 17 from the field, and corralled 15 rebounds, during a 78-64 win at Dean on Jan. 28.
He was named GNAC Player of the Week on Jan. 31. Vanderhorst tallied 20 points and 14 rebounds during a 102-83 triumph over eventual GNAC Tournament-runner-up Albertus Magnus on Jan. 12.
