Men's Basketball: Jonathan Friberg named GNAC Player of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. After averaging 17.0 points and 16.5 rebounds during a two-game week for the Lasell University men's basketball team, graduate student Jonathan Friberg earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week recognition Monday.

Friberg shot 61.5% from the field (16 of 26) this past week. The North Attleboro, Massachusetts, native is averaging 11.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game this season, while shooting 57.8% from the field (78 for 135). He ranks fourth in the conference in field-goal percentage and ninth in rebounds per game.

Friberg finished with game-highs of 19 points and 17 rebounds during a 65-55 triumph at GNAC-rival Regis Tuesday. The rebounding total is a career-high. He scored 15 second-half points, shooting 7 of 8 from the field, as the Lasers rallied from a five-point halftime deficit.

The forward scored 15 points, tied for the most on the team, and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds at Saint Joseph's College of Maine Saturday. He pulled down eight offensive boards and shot 7 of 13 from the field.
