NEWTON, Mass. (12/12/15) – No. 3 Amherst College defeated Lasell College 101-69 in non-conference men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon in the Athletic Center. The loss drops the Lasers to 6-4 overall while Amherst remains undefeated at 8-0.

STAT LEADERS FOR LASELL

• Three Lasers scored in double digits in the effort as sophomore guard Scott Arsenault (Walpole, Mass.) paved the way with 15 points. 
• Senior forward Pat Marchand (Cranston, R.I.) followed with 14 points and five rebounds, while senior forward Logan Liberty (Duxbury, Vt.) rounded out double-digit scoring with 10 points and a team-best six boards.

STAT LEADERS FOR AMHERST

• All starters for Amherst packed the stat sheet with double-digit scoring. Junior guard Jeff Racy (Ridgefield, Conn.) poured in a game-high 25 points on 8-for-14 shooting to go along with 7-for-11 from three point range, with two assists and a pair of steals.
•  Senior guard Connor Green (Bedford, N.H.) followed with 18 points and seven boards, while sophomore guard Johnny McCarthy (Medfield, Mass.) went 6-for-11 from the floor for 14 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Lasers contended with the Purple and White for the first five minutes, as Marchand and Arsenault teamed up for a 7-2 lead. Amherst sophomore guard Jayde Dawson (Montreal, Quebec) answered the deficit with a deep bucket from behind the arc before junior forward David George (Philadelphia, Pa.) knocked down a jumper to deadlock the game 7-all. 
• The Lasers kept Amherst at bay as Arsenault used a feed from junior forward Yordan Villalon (Miami, Fla.) to boost the score to 14-11 in favor of the Lasell, however, Dawson tied the contest again with another three-pointer, where Amherst stole the lead for the game's remainder. Using 20-for-38 shooting in the first half, Amherst held a 54-35 lead heading into the halftime break. The Purple and White continued to dominate the court offensively, scoring 47 points in second-half action for a combined final score of 101-69.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Amherst averaged 52.1% shooting from the floor compared to Lasell's 39.9%, and held a 44.7% to 29.2% advantage in shots from downtown. 
• Lasell came up just short in rebounds, 38-45, and outscored the visitors in the paint 36-32.

WHAT'S NEXT 

• The Lasers will open the 2016 year after the Holiday break on Tuesday, January 5 for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest at Suffolk University, while Amherst returns to the court on Saturday, January 2 for a non-conference tilt with Rust College.
