Men's Basketball Falters at WPI

Worcester, Mass. (11/19/12) - The Lasell College men's basketball team lost a non-conference game at Worcester Polytechnic, 94-62 on Thursday evening. The Lasers dropped to 1-4 on the season, while WPI remained undefeated, moving to 6-0 overall.

Brandon Ganesh (West Palm Beach, Fla.) scored a team-high 11 points, Sean Bertanza (Seymour, Conn.) finished with 10 points for Lasell. Bertanza and Rob Watts (Lafayette, N.J.) each pulled down six rebounds on the night for the Lasers.

Sam Longwell (Acton, Mass.) paced the Engineers with 18 points,  while Marco Coppola (Watertown, Mass.) and Zach Karalis (North Andover, Mass.) added 16 apiece. Ryan Kolb (Southington, Conn.) pulled in a game-high eight rebounds and chipped in eight points for WPI.

The Engineers used a 21-2 run midway through the first half that Lasell was unable to recover from. WPI shot nearly 57% from the field on the night, including a 9-21 showing from three point territory. Lasell shot 45.7% from the floor, but struggled from three point range finishing 4-16 for the game.

WPi will be back in action on Saturday September 1st when they visit Husson University, while Lasell will travel to Albertus Magnus College for their Great Northeast Athletic Conference opener at 1 p.m.
