Williams Joins the 1,000 Point Club

NEWTON, MA- Javon Williams (Mattapan, MA), a junior forward on the Lasell College men's basketball team has joined the 1,000 point club, hitting the career milestone during Tuesday's contest with Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) rivals Mount Ida College.

 

Williams is the 10th Laser to hit 1,000 points in men's basketball history.  He entered Tuesday night's contest just shy of the milestone, in debt of six points, which he easily eclipsed en route to a 17 point performance against the Mustangs. 

 

The junior is leading Lasell this season in points (20.6), rebounds (6.8), steals (2.8), and blocks (1.5) per game as well as in field goal percentage (53.3%).  He is also ranked in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) 1st in steals, 3rd in points, 4th in field goal percentage and blocks, and 6th in rebounding.  Nationally, Williams ranks 18th in steals, 25th in points, and 85th in blocks per game as well as 111th in field goal percentage amongst all NCAA Division III men's basketball players.

 

Williams is a 2010 GNAC First Team All-Conference and ECAC All-Region honoree.  This season he has also received national recognition from D3Hoops.com Team of the Week once.  He has been the high-scorer in 12-of-16 contests this year, having recorded three 30-plus point performances and seven 20-plus point showings.  

 

Williams' career total currently stands at 1,011 points.
