Williams Tabbed as GNAC Player of the Week

Newton, MA- Lasell's Javon Williams (Mattapan, MA) was honored as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending February 21st.

 

Williams was selected during a week where he averaged 26 points, 10.5 rebounds, four steals, two assists, and two blocks per game.  He and had the performance of the night against Mount Ida with 37 points, nine rebounds, six steals and two blocks and then recorded his 12th double-double of the season against Rivier with 15 points and 12 rebounds. 

 

Only a sophomore, Williams has had an exceptional season with the Lasers this year.  He has scored in double-figures in all 26 games this season, and in 28 consecutive total games, dating back to last season. He is ranked 3rd in the GNAC in points, rebounds, and steals per game, 4th in field goal percentage and 10th in blocked shots.  He is ranked 38th nationally, in all of the NCAA Division III, in points per game, 85Th in rebounds per game, and 86th in field goal percentage. 

 

This season he is averaging 20.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.12 steals, 1.6 assists, and 1 block per game, while shooting 54% from the field.  He had a season and career-high of 37 points against Mount Ida, and a season and career-high 21 rebounds against Southern Vermont College.
