Lasell Defeats GNAC Foe Emmanuel

Newton, MA- Charles Horton (Detriot, MI) scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Lasell College Lasers past the Emmanuel College Saints, 69-60, in men's basketball action Monday night. The Lasers are now 5-8 overall while the Saints drop to 3-10.

The visitors opened up scoring the first point of the game with a free throw by Andre Fuller (Troy, NY), but that would be the only lead the Saints would see the entire game.  Horton's first trey of the night put Lasell ahead just 20 seconds later. Emmanuel would tie up the game at 12-all with 13:51 left to play in the first half after two freebies by Armani Gill (Boston, MA) but the Lasers regained control shortly afterwards and closed out the half with a 27-20 advantage.

Lasell went up by as much as 13 points at 12:30 in the second half when Justin Harris (New Orleans, LA) set up Brett Heimann (Miami, FL) for a distance three on the wing, but the Saints would not go down without a fight.  Emmanuel rallied to bring the game back within reach at 51-47 with five minutes left to play, but Lasell was too strong and returned to a double figure edge in the final minutes of play.

Javon Williams (Mattapan, MA) produced his sixth double-double of the season, putting up 19 points and tearing down 13 rebounds off the glass. Heimann notched 15 points, adding four assists, three steals and three rebounds.

Three Saints tallied double-figures in the scoring column.  Xavier Everson (Rochester, NY) led the way with 15, in addition to eight boards and four assists, Fuller recorded 12 points and two blocks, and Isaiah Duke (Albany, NY) scored 10 points and picked up six rebounds.

Lasell's next contest will be at Keene State College on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Emmanuel plays next at Rhode Island College at the same date and time.
