Lasers fall to Sharks

Newton, MA

The Lasell University field hockey team fell on senior day to the Simmons Sharks 4-0 at Grellier Field. The loss drops the Laser to 8-6 overall and 5-3 in conference play. Simmons moves to 12-2 (7-2).

Senior Sheridan Blaha (Waltham, MA), senior Sage Dodier (Amesbury, MA), and senior McKensie Lennon (Jamestown, RI) were all honored before the game.  

Simmons got on the board at the 3:28 mark when Sydney Gonyea (Lebanon, NH) dribbled down the field and shot the ball into the far left corner of the net.  Seven minutes later, Gonyea would pass the ball to Anna Tedeschi (Hanover, MA) who was perched on the left side of the net. Tedeschi would collect the pass and shoot it into the net to make it 2-0 Sharks.

Simmons led 2-0 at the half.

The Sharks would add to their lead in the 38th minute when Riley Lambert (Virginia Beach, VA) shot the ball, past the Lasell defense into the net to make it 3-0. Three minutes later, Lambert would set up Sydney Gonyea goal to increase the Sharks lead to 4-0, which would be the final score.

The Laser goalies finished the game with fifteen saves. Thirteen by Courtney Tello (Nashua, NH) and two by Abby Boudreau (Wakefield, MA).

The Lasers are back in action on Wednesday when they host Regis College at 5 p.m. The Sharks are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Weston, MA to take on Regis College at 2 p.m.
