FH: Lasers fall to Raiders in OT

Nashua, NH

The Lasell University field hockey team fell to the Rivier University Raiders 2-1 in overtime, Wednesday afternoon at Joanne Merrill Field. The loss moves the Lasers to 8-5 on the season and 5-2 in conference play. The Raiders move to 5-7 on the year.

The Lasers got on the board in the 15th-minute mark when Sheridan Blaha (Waltham, MA) scored after a failed clearance by the Raider's defense.  This was the only score of the half and the teams went into the break with Lasell up 1-0.

The Raiders tied it up in the 53rd minute when Sydney Spenard (Manchester, NH) was able to shoot the ball into the right-hand corner of the net from inside the circle. At the end of regulation, the game was tied 1-1. 

The Raiders would score the game winner in overtime when Jacklyn O'Connor got the ball after a failed clear from Lasell and was able to shoot the ball into the corner of the net. 

The Laser goalies finished the game with ten saves. Courtney Tello (Nashua, NH) had four saves and Abby Boudreau (Wakefield, MA) had six. Rivier goalie Olivia Boucher (Berlin, NH) finished the game with three saves. 

The Lasers are back in action on Saturday when they host Simmons University on Senior Day at 12 p.m. 

The Raiders are back in action on Sunday as they travel to Franklin, MA to take on Dean College at 11 a.m.
