FH: Lasers defeat Fighting Scots

Wenham, MA- 

The Lasell University field hockey team beat the Gordon College Fighting Scots 3-0 Tuesday afternoon at Brigham Athletic Complex. The win improves the Lasers to 4-4 on the season and the loss moves the Fighting Scots to 2-7 on the year.

Lasell got on the board at the 10:54 mark when Lilly Stark (Saco, ME) diagonally passed the ball through two Fighting Scott defenders to Kaitlin Bedell (Londonderry, NH). Bedell took a couple of dribbles towards the keeper and then shot the ball into the left side of the net.  Lasell finished the quarter with three shots, all on target. 

Stark got on the scoresheet at the 16:41 mark in the second quarter when she dribbled by her defender and then shot the ball from outside the circle into the net.

After a penalty corner at the 21:15 mark, there was a scramble for the ball in front of the Fighting Scots goalie. Lisa Ortiz (Lincoln, RI) emerged from the scrum and gave Lasell a 3-0 lead when she shot the ball past the goalie. 

When the final whistle blew, it was 3-0 in favor of Lasell.

The Laser goalies finished the game with four saves. One by Courtney Tello (Nashua, NH) and three by Abby Boudreau (Wakefield, MA). 

The Fighting Scott goalies finished the game with four saves. Three by Allyson Stauffer (Lancaster, PA) and one by Sophea Zaskoda (Lansdale, PA).  

The Lasers are back in action on Thursday as they travel to Framingham to take on non-conference opponent, Framingham State University at 4:30 p.m. The Fighting Scots are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Beverly to take on the Gulls of Endicott College at 1:00 p.m.
