FH: Lasers beat Falcons

New Haven, CT- 

The Lasell University field hockey team beat the Albertus Magnus Falcons 8-0 Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup. The win improves the Lasers to 2-2 on the season and the loss drops Albertus to 0-4 on the year. 

After a scoreless first quarter, Lasell got on the board at the 15:10 mark when Sheridan Blaha (Waltham, MA) shot the ball passed the Falcons goalie. The Lasers scored 3 minutes and 31 seconds later when Lisa Ortiz (Lincoln, RI) received a pass from sophomore Caitlyn Smith (Newington, CT), and shot the ball into the net. Lasell did not waste any more time as Alyson Barnes (South Deerfield, MA) scored in the 24th minute. The Lasers would add one goal in the second quarter when Lily Stark (Saco, ME) passed the ball to Sheridan Blaha for her second goal of the contest.

At the Half, it was 4-0 in favor of the Lasers. 

Lasell would score one goal in the third quarter as Sage Dodier (Amesbury, MA) assisted Blaha for another goal.  

At the 48:12 mark in the fourth quarter, Lily Stark passed the ball to Sheridan Blaha for her third goal of the game. 

Three minutes later Ortiz, passed the ball to Kaylene Ellis (Endfield, CT) for another goal. 

 Lasell's final goal came in the 51st minute when Dodier passed the ball to Stark who then bagged her second goal of the contest. 

Lasell goalie Courtney Tello (Nashua, NH) made one save in the contest for the Lasers and Serena Montague (Englishtown, NJ) had 19 saves for the Falcons. 

The Lasers return home on Tuesday when they host Nichols college at 5 p.m. Albertus will play Mount Holyoke College on September 27th at 7 p.m.
