FH: Head Coach Cait Connolly steps down to become Assistant Athletic Director

NEWTON, Mass. – Lasell University Director of Athletics Kristy Walter has announced that Cait Connolly has stepped down as head field hockey coach to take the position of Assistant Athletic Director at Lasell.

Connolly served as field hockey coach the past 12 seasons and compiled an overall record of 101-109, including a 40-45 mark in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. She was voted GNAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2017 and guided the Lasers to three consecutive GNAC championship game appearances from 2017-19. She coached the Lasers to 31 All-Conference selections, including a GNAC Defensive Player of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, and Rookie of the Year.

Connolly also served as Lasell's women's lacrosse coach from 2010-20, capturing GNAC championships and NCAA Tournament berths in 2013 and 2016. She also led the team to runner-up finishes in 2015 and 2018, and posted a combined record of 116-50, including 69-15 in GNAC games, before stepping down in 2020.

The search for a new head field hockey coach at Lasell will begin immediately.

"I am deeply appreciative to Athletic Director Kristy Walter for giving me the opportunity to coach the field hockey and women's lacrosse programs twelve years ago," said Connolly. "I am so proud and thankful for all the hard work, commitment, and dedication the student-athletes have given to build two successful programs. Thank you to the current players, alumni, parents, and the Lasell community for all the support over the years. I will miss being on the sideline with the team, however, I am thankful for this new opportunity to step into the assistant athletic director role and support the continued success of all the sports programs at Lasell."

In her new position with Lasell Athletics, Connolly will be responsible for assisting in the overall administration of the varsity athletic program, overseeing NCAA compliance and the coordination of club sports, intramurals, and recreation.  She will also assist with event management responsibilities and department-wide programming.

"I am looking forward to working with Cait in this new role," said Walter. "I believe that the athletic program, the student-athletes and the Lasell Community will benefit from her input, ideas and support."
