FH: Lasers score four unanswered to down GNAC foe Rivier

Newton, Mass. – The Lasell University field hockey team defeated the Rivier University Raiders, 4-1, Saturday at Grellier Field.

The win improves the Lasers to 3-3 and 2-0 in the GNAC while the loss moves the Raiders to 0-2 and 0-1 in the GNAC.

The Raiders got on the board first in the 5th minute when senior Lia Yohanan (Andover, N.J.) took a shot from the outside and powered it past the keeper for the goal. The Lasers answered back with less than a minute left in the first quarter when a shot from junior Sheridan Blaha (Waltham, Mass.) deflected right to junior Sage Dodier (Amesbury, Mass.) at the near post who put it in following a penalty corner.

The Lasers came back quickly in the second quarter when sophomore Lily Stark (Socko, Maine) gave Lasell the lead after redirecting a shot from junior Kensie Lennon (Jamestown, R.I.) into the near post following a penalty corner. With less than three minutes left in the second quarter sophomore Lisa Ortiz (Lincoln, R.I.) grabbed a rebound off a blocked shot by Lennon and put it past the keeper for the goal.

Off a penalty corner with less than eight minutes to go in the game Dodier passes the ball to freshman Kaleigh Miller (Socko, Maine) who passes it right back to Dodier at the near post for the tap in goal.

Dodier scored two goals in the win while freshman Courtney Tello (Nashua, N.H.) got the win for the Lasers making three saves to improve to 3-2 on the year.

The Lasers will be back in action on Tuesday, September 21st when they travel to take on Nichols with a 6:30 p.m. scheduled start.
