FH: Lasell drops non-conference game at Salve Regina

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – Senior Eliza Timms (Agawam, Mass.) scored a pair of goals Tuesday evening as Salve Regina University doubled up Lasell University, 4-2, in non-conference field hockey action at Gaudet Field.

Salve remains undefeated on the season at 5-0, while Lasell drops to 2-3. The Lasers got one goal apiece from sophomore Lisa Ortiz (Lincoln, R.I.) and junior Kensie Lennon (Jamestown, R.I.).

The Seahawks jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first quarter. Salve senior Grace Parker (Simsbury, Comm.) and Ortiz traded unassisted goals less than a minute apart in the first seven minutes of the game. Sophomore Olivia Hussey (Hanover, Mass.) and Timms tacked on back-to-back goals for the Seahawks later in the period to push the score to 3-1.

Timms added her second of the game early in the second quarter but that ended up as the halftime score. The Seahawks had a 12-1 shot advantage in the first 30 minutes.

Lennon pulled Lasell to within two goals (4-2) six minutes into the third quarter but that ended up as all of the scoring. The hosts finished with a 22-5 margin in shots, and freshman goalie Courtney Tello (Nashua, N.H.) made nine saves for Lasell.

The Lasers are back home for their next game, hosting Rivier University in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest on Saturday (September 18) at Grellier Field at 3 p.m.
