Field Hockey Defeats Colby-Sawyer, 2-0
NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 23, 2012 The Lasell College field hockey team secured the final spot in this weekend's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) tournament after a 2-0 win at Colby-Sawyer on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Lasers improve to 2-7 in the conference standings, landing the team in the eighth spot. Colby-Sawyer finishes the season 5-10 overall and 1-8 in the NAC.
 
After a scoreless first half, Lasell broke through at 54:08 to take a 1-0 lead. Freshman Nikita Soares (Westport, Mass.) found the back of the cage off a feed from sophomore Brianna Robbins (Auburn, Maine).
 
Two minutes later, the Lasers received an insurance goal from freshman Cristina Wilson (Wilmington, Mass.). She put home a rebound when the Colby-Sawyer keeper saved a shot from Soares.
 
Freshman keeper Cassie Aviles (Bellingham, Mass.) made four saves en route to the shutout. Freshman goalie Jodi Dumayne (Claremont, N.H.) made two stops for Colby-Sawyer.
 
Lasell will play at Framingham tomorrow at 3:30 pm in a regular season finale before a NAC quarterfinal contest this weekend.
