Eastern Connecticut Tops Lasell, 4-1 in Women's Field Hockey

Mansfield, Conn. - The Lasell College women's field hockey team dropped a 4-1 non-conference road game against Eastern Connecticut State University. The Lasers are 4-9 overall after the loss, while Eastern Connecticut improved to 4-9 on the season.

Kate Fabri (Fairfield, Conn.) netted her team-leading sixth goal of the season for Lasell, while goalkeeper Cassie Aviles (Bellingham, Mass.) made nine saves including seven in the half to keep her team in  contention. Deisy Naranjo (Washington, Hts, N.Y.) scored a pair of goals for Eastern Connecticut who also got a goal apiece from Marinna Emond (Seekon, Mass.) and Laura Chicorka (Enfield, Conn.).

Naranjo put the Warriors on the board in the seventh minute, who then upped their lead to 2-0 off of a penalty corner and the end of the first half. Kate Fabri drew Lasell back within a goal at 2-1 when she collected a rebound and knocked the ball past the ECSU keeper in the 57th minute. Lasell was unable to get any closer, and the Warriors tacked on a pair of insurance goals in the final five minutes to seal the 4-1 victory.

Lasell will return to action on October 11th when they travel to Anna Maria 6:30 p.m. for a non-conference matchup against the AMCats.
