A Pair of Hat Tricks Secures Farmington's Victory

FARMINGTON, ME-- The University of Maine at Farmington was led by a pair of hat tricks by Lily Barry (Hermon, ME) and Kaitlyn Bullen (Farmington, ME) to carry the Beavers over Lasell field hockey, 6-0, on Sunday at Prescott Field.

Barry started things off for the Beavers at 2:22 and then struck again at 12:59 and 43:43. Her three goals completed the first half scoring for Farmington who outshot Lasell 22-1 in the frame.  Laser goalie Christine Thornton (Canton, MA) made 10 first half saves in the game and also received help from defender Ainsley Wolfe (Derry, NH) who knocked aside the only defensive save of the game.

The second half was a similar event with a lopsided 13-1 shot margin in favor of the hosts.   Bullen's three consecutive goals began when she recorded back-to-back marks in a six second span to open the second half, and was finished at 54:39.

Jennifer McGurgan (Southington, CT) and Lauren Rice (Belfast, ME) were the only two Lasers to get shots off on the tough Beaver defense.  Curran Brierley ( East Hampton, NY) and Felisha Taylor (Chelsea, ME) split the shutout for Farmington, with Brierley sealing the win.

Thornton finished with 15 total saves in the complete contest.

Lasell (2-6, 1-3 NAC) returns to Grellier Field on Wednesday, September 28th for a home contest against Becker College at 4:00 p.m.
