Engineers Shutout Lasers

Cambridge, MA-  Lasell College was shutout, 12-0, by MIT on Tuesday night in non-conference field hockey action on Jack Barry Field.  The loss drops Lasell to 0-2 on the young season, while MIT remains undefeated at 3-0.

Playing in driving rain for most of the game, the Engineers jumped out to an early 4-0 lead through the 15 minute mark. Sophomore Molly Duffy (New Providence, NJ) and freshman Caitlin Mackey (San Diego, CA) scored a hat trick a piece for the hosts who dictated the flow of the game throughout the 70 minute contest.  The Engineers outshot Lasell 32-4 through the contest and held an 11-1 edge in penalty corners.

Katelyn Fabri (Fairfield, CT), Taylor Hulitzky (Medway, MA), and Tiffany Potter (Leicester, MA) provided the Lasers offensive strikes in the contest. Potter's one attempt was the only on-target shot of the game for the visitors.

Laser goal keeper Christine Thornton (Canton, MA) made 11 saves in the lopsided contest, getting constant action in the back field.

Lasell will host their first home contest on Sunday, September 11th on Grellier Field.  The Lasers will match up against Drew University in non-conference action, starting at 12:00 p.m.
