Eagles Cruise to 6-0 NAC Win

Bangor, ME-- Husson University extended their five-game winning streak with a 6-0 North Atlantic Conference field hockey victory over Lasell College on Saturday.   Five Eagles contributed goals to improve Husson's record to 7-4 (5-1 NAC).  In the defeat, the Lasers fall to 5-10 (0-6 NAC).

 

The Eagles took command right off the bat, taking a 4-0 lead into halftime, and out shooting the Lasers 25-3 in the period.  Husson was also granted 10 corners in the half to Lasell's one.  Sabrina Vaillancourt (Newport, ME) put Husson on top in the 16th minute converting  from the top of the circle. Helen Berry (Belfast, ME)  gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead off a corner 10 minutes later.  

 

After numerous big saves by Lasell keeper Christine Thornton (Canton, MA), Husson's Kait Dingley- Jade (Lisbon, ME) and Courtney Allen (Gardiner, ME) topped off the scoring for the half. 

 

In the second period, Lasell fought back and recorded five shots, including two on goal by Tia Pratt (Oxford Hills, ME) and one by Sara Jannuzzi (Glen, NH).  Husson remained predominantly in control of the contest, adding on 13 more shots and two more goals before the final buzzer.  Vaillancourt tucked away her second goal of the day  and Lorri HIltz (Norridgewock, ME) capped scoring in the contest.

 

Thornton completed the day with 18 saves in the Lasers' net. Eagle netminder Kristen Capen (Leeds, ME) recorded three saves in the win.

 

Lasell's next contest is marked for Wednesday, October 20th at Anna Maria College at 4:00 p.m.
